Hi, I'm John Wesley — an artist based just outside Atlanta in Lawrenceville, GA. For me, art has always been a creative outlet and a way of communicating. The canvas gave my unspoken thoughts a voice — and somewhere along the way, I fell in love with the learning and experimenting that came with it.
I work primarily with acrylic, but will occasionally incorporate oil, spray paint, charcoal and ink. Honestly, my style shifts depending on where my head is that day. Some pieces come out loud and layered — chaotic in the best way, full of color and (e)motion. Others come out quiet and stripped down to almost nothing. Both are true to me. I don't chase one look; I follow whatever vibration or energy I'm carrying at the time and let it land on the canvas.
If something I've made makes you feel a little more than you expected to, that's the whole point.
